BELLEVILLE – The Wellington Dukes have named Joe McKeown captain for the remainder of the 2014-15 hockey season.
McKeown was named captain after the Dukes traded former captain Erick Delaurentis to the Hamilton Red Wings.
Dukes coach and general manager Marty Abrams said he is confident in choosing McKeown for captain.
“Joe has a strong sense of team, cares about his teammates and leads by example,” said Abrams.
So far this season McKeown has scored 15 goals and 12 assists in just 23 games, almost surpassing the 32 points he put up last year in 52 games.
Abrams also confirmed that the alternate captains of the Dukes will remain intact as defenceman Andrew Coupland, forward Luc Brown and forward Abbot Girduckis.
