Team stranded by storm handled it well, coach says
BELLEVILLE – The coach of a student basketball team that was stranded in a bus for a full day by the record snowstorm that hit the Buffalo area this week says the team members handled the situation well.
The Purple Eagles women’s basketball team from Niagara University of Lewiston, N.Y., spent more than 24 hours Tuesday on a bus on the New York State Thruway.
“It was unnerving to be in the storm and stuck, but we fortunate to be together and on a bus with heat and a bathroom,” said Kendra Faustin, the coach of the Eagles. “I am so proud of our team and staff with the way they handled and are handling this entire situation.”
The team was eventually rescued by police Wednesday morning.
