Bulls drop first game after big trade
BELLEVILLE – The lineup looks different, but the result remained the same for the Belleville Bulls after a 6-5 overtime loss to the Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday night.
Newcomers Trent Fox and Jesse Saban were in the Bulls’ lineup in the loss. Neither recorded a point in the game.
Jordan Subban, Brett Welychka and Niki Petti each had four points. Charlie Graham started in net for Belleville and made 32 saves.
The Bulls acquired Fox and Saban from the Erie Otters on Monday, along with six draft picks. Belleville traded away top scorer Remi Elie and former captain Jake Marchment in the deal.
Elie had 34 points in 35 games for the Bulls. Marchment fell out of favour with the club after receiving a 15-game suspension for violating the Ontario Hockey League‘s social-media policy by sending inappropriate messages to a young woman.
The hockey team made the trade after following up a 10-3 start with an 8-17 record since the beginning of November.
The Bulls play next in Kitchener on Friday night.
