BELLEVILLE – Forward Brett Welychka has been named the new captain of the Belleville Bulls.
Belleville’s head coach and general manager, George Burnett, made the announcement on Monday.
Welychka replaces former captain Jake Marchment, who was traded to Erie, Pennsylvania, last week following a 15-game suspension for violating the Ontario Hockey League’s social-media policy.
Welychka, a London, Ont., native, has 21 points in 29 games with Belleville this season. The Bulls acquired him from the London Knights in October.
More to come.
