Loyalist College’s health-care centre is No. 1
BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College has been ranked No. 1 among all Ontario colleges in student satisfaction for its health centre.
The numbers for the 2013 Key Performance Indicators survey of Ontario’s colleges found that 98.2 per cent of students at Loyalist were satisfied with the services provided by the health centre. That was the highest satisfaction rate for health centres among all colleges, and 14 per cent higher than the provincial average.
Lauren Deans, the nurse at the health centre, said she is especially happy about the achievement since it is student-voted.
“It’s the students that have approved of us,” she said. “That makes me very happy.”
Loyalist College president Maureen Piercy said the No. 1 ranking for the centre is outstanding and is due to the professionalism of the people who work there.
“The staff of the health centre really define it; they are approachable, professional and care deeply about the well-being of our students. The staff are key to this recognition,” she told QNet News in an email.
The Key Performance Indicators report collects information in five areas: graduate satisfaction, student satisfaction, employer satisfaction, employment rate and graduation rate.
The surveys “provide valuable feedback to the college on a wide range of college activities, and this feedback is an important part of the regular review of college programs and services,” Piercy said. “KPIs help us identify any areas where we need to improve, as well as with areas of strength – they contribute to our continuous improvement, which is an ongoing focus for all members of the Loyalist team.”
