Driver going more than 40 km over speed limit
BELLEVILLE – A driver was charged with using a radar detector after being stopped for going more than 40 km over the speed limit on Highway 7.
The driver was pulled over by a Hastings OPP officer around 2 a.m. on Tuesday in the municipality of Marmora and Lake, near KOA Campground Road, where the driver was going 122 km in an 80 km zone.
OPP community-services officer Const. Alana Deubel said the speeding wasn’t the only charge against the driver.
“The officer conducted a vehicle stop, and while he was dealing with the driver he observed a radar detector being utilized in the vehicle,” she said.
Deubel said she doesn’t believe Highway 7 would have had too many cars driving at the time.
“Being that is was 2:30 in the morning it usually not too busy at that time of the night,” she said.
The driver, a 40 year-old male from Richmond Hill, was charged with speeding and using a speed measuring warning device.
