Police arrest one man, still searching for another after home invasion

BELLEVILLE – An 18-year-old man has been arrested and another suspect is still at large in connection with a home invasion that happened Sunday in Belleville.
Belleville Police responded to a home-invasion report in the area of Sidney Street and Bridge Street West Sunday night. Two men with knives forced their way into an apartment demanding property, police say. The occupant was not injured, but a wallet with money and identification was stolen.
Warrants for the arrest of two suspects were issued Thursday morning. Shortly after 10 a.m. one of the suspects was arrested without incident, police reported. He was being held for a hearing at provincial court in Belleville.
The search for the second suspect continues. Police are looking for a small, greyish-coloured minivan that may have been used by the accused.
Both men are facing a number of charges, including break and enter with intent to commit robbery, break and enter with intent to commit assault with a weapon, break and enter with intent to commit assault, break and enter with intent to commit mischief under $5,000, break and enter with intent to commit theft under $5,000, robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, assault, mischief under $5,000, forcible confinement and wearing a disguise in the commission of an offence.
