Sgt. Doiron honoured at CFB Trenton
BELLEVILLE – The body of Sgt. Andrew Joseph Doiron is set to arrive at the CFB Trenton air base this afternoon at 3:40 p.m. for a repatriation ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a motorcade with Doiron’s body will travel from the base to Toronto on Highway 401 along the Highway of Heroes.
The Quinte West Fire Department has confirmed that they will have a truck stationed on Hamilton Street near the base to honour Doiron before the motorcade travels down the route.
QNet News reporters Taylor Broderick and Kate Shumakova will be covering the day’s events.
Doiron along with three of his squad mates were fired upon while returning to their observation post at night on March 6. The shots were fired by Kurdish soldiers, allies of the Canadians against Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
