Picton man charged for possession of child pornography
BELLEVILLE – A Picton man was charged after child pornography was found on a computer Tuesday.
Members of the Prince Edward County OPP, Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the Technical Crime Unit searched a Picton home after receiving information regarding a person sharing images, they believed to be, child pornography online, said Detective Sgt. Paul Thompson, of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit.
Police found two computer devices with child pornography. The two devices were seized by police.
The computer devices need to be further investigated, said Thompson.
“They have to be forensically imaged and searched for any further evidence to support the eight charges listed. That would mean looking for child pornography,” he said. “If we can identify any of those victims of those images, that will be worked on as well.”
The 28-year-old man is charged with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography, three counts of Accessing Child Pornography, and two counts of Making Child Pornography Available.
The charged man was released with conditions after a bail-hearing, and is scheduled to appear in court on April 15 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton.
