Water and electricity conservation challenge at Loyalist residences
By Tyler Renaud
‘Turn it off Loyalist: Do it in the Dark’ is the residence wide challenge to reduce the amount of water and electricity used by students.
The challenge began March 16th and will continue until April 19th, with a grand prize being awarded to the building that reduces its usage the most. Additionally, there will be three daily prize draws for students who post selfies of themselves conserving water or electricity to Instagram.
Dominique Dawes, residence co-ordinator at Loyalist College, said the new residence buildings use 25 per cent of the water and electricity on campus. She added that these consumption rates are a motivating factor for the challenge.
The building that conserves the most will be awarded a twenty dollar gift certificate per person to any Aramark food service on campus.
