Bus tickets offered to Loyalist students after free weekly trip cancelled
BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College has received 125 round-trip Belleville Transit tickets for residence students after the recent cancellation of the weekly free route to No Frills and the Quinte Mall.
For almost 10 years, that Tuesday-evening run had made it easier and cheaper for residence students to do their shopping. But the run has been cancelled for this school year.
Dave Templar, a residence co-ordinator, said the college had tried to work out a continued arrangement with Belleville Transit, but the two sides were unable to come to an agreement.
However, the transit service has given the college 125 round-trip tickets to distribute free to residence students on a first-come, first-served basis.
Belleville Transit has made a change in Route 10 between Loyalist and the north-end shopping area, adding a stop at Walmart. Students will have to pay regular fares for the trip.
QNet News is talking to Loyalist students about the transit changes. More information to come.
