BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College’s women’s rugby team has made the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
The team went 1-4-1 this season to secure a playoff berth. The women’s team kicked off the season with a slow 0-3 start but managed to slip in with an impressive win against Algonquin College, beating them 32-7 in the last game of the season.
The win pushed Algonquin out of the playoffs. The six teams in the playoffs include Loyalist, Fleming, Humber, Sheridan, Conestoga and St. Lawrence.
The team will face Conestoga College in Kitchener this Saturday at noon. If they win, they will move on to face Fleming College in the semifinals.
