Grand opening of new Belleville Fire and Emergency headquarters
BELLEVILLE – The grand opening of the new Belleville Fire and Emergency Services headquarters took place on Tuesday.
Firefighters, council members and the public were invited to tour the new facility which was followed by a chili dinner.
Fire Chief Mark MacDonald, Mayor Taso Christopher and others made speeches to commemorate the occasion.
MacDonald said the new facility is a great asset to both employees and the community, as it brings everything together under one roof.
He told QNet News the move was difficult at first, but now everyone is comfortable in the new location.
Christopher said he is very proud of the new $7 million dollar facility and it came in right on budget.
“I would like to extend a huge congratulations to everyone involved in the development and completion of this project,” he said.
Firefighters and council members also took part in the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The new facility is located at 60 Bettes St., and the old Dundas St. fire department has been closed down.
