Belleville man being inducted into Ontario Golf Hall of Fame
BELLEVILLE – Local resident Dave Mills is being inducted into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame.
He will be recognized for his extraordinary contributions to and accomplishments in the game of golf in Ontario, says the Golf Association of Ontario.
Mills has been involved with the association since 1986, when he assumed the role of club representative for the Bay of Quinte Golf and Country Club. He went on to become the executive director of the Uxbridge-based organization in 1997 and held the position for 18 years.
During that time, he led initiatives such as a scholarship program, learn-to-play clinics and participation in Canadian and Ontario Summer Games. He also led the process to establish the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame and helped to have golf recognized as an official sport in Canada.
Mills and his wife have moved back to Belleville from Uxbridge, though he continues work for the asssociation on a volunteer basis.
The induction ceremony will take place on May 4 at the Wooden Sticks Golf Club in Uxbridge.
