BELLEVILLE – Charges of possession of a controlled substance were among those laid by the Napanee OPP last week when they held a roadside spot-check program in Stone Mills Township.
On Thursday at about 7:30 p.m., officers with the RIDE program and an OPP canine unit searched a car that smelled of alcohol and burnt marijuana, the OPP said.
The driver and the passenger were charged with possession of a controlled substance after police found 40 grams of marijuana.
The passenger, a 17-year-old Odessa man, is also facing two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He will appear in court in Napanee on Jan. 11.
The RIDE program also resulted in a 61-year-old man being charged with driving while impaired. The man, from Stone Mills, will appear in provincial court in Napanee on Dec. 22.
Police also charged two drivers for driving with a suspended licence and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Two other drivers were charged with not having a current validation sticker on their licence plate.
