BELLEVILLE – Over 100 scouts from the National Hockey League and the National Collegiate Athletic Association will be in attendance to watch the Ontario Junior Hockey League‘s best take the ice this weekend in Trenton.
The Trenton Golden Hawks will be playing host to the 2016 OJHL North-East Showcase with teams from the north and the east division in attendance. There will be 11 teams playing 11 games over the course of the weekend, with each team playing two games.
With scouts coming from all over North America, players will look to impress during the tournament with the hopes of getting the chance to continue their hockey careers with an NCAA team at a university in the U.S., or maybe even an NHL franchise.
The Golden Hawks will kick off the tournament on Friday against the Aurora Tigers at 7:30 p.m. at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens. The Golden Hawks will also play the last game of the tournament on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. against the Cobourg Cougars.
The Golden Hawks are the best team in the OJHL at the moment and currently sit at the top of the east division with a 10-point-lead against the Kingston Voyageurs.
More to come.
