Man charged after damaging police vehicle
BELLEVILLE – Police charged a 46-year-old man for damaging a cruiser at the the Belleville police station Thursday morning.
It’s not clear why the man was at the station. Police said he broke the vehicle’s tail lights using a steel bar and then fled in a vehicle. He was later seen driving on the front steps of the Quinte Consolidated Courthouse. When officers tried to approach him, he took off again, according to police.
He was then spotted on Bridge Street and officers finally took him into custody on Front Street.
The man is being held for a bail hearing. He’s been charged with mischief to property under $5,000 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
