Philosophical discussion group coming to Trenton
By Haley Rose
BELLEVILLE – The Quinte West Public Library is inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in philosophical discussions.
The event, called the Socrates Cafe, is an opportunity for people to exchange ideas and experiences that embrace the Socratic method, according to a news release issued by the library this week.
The Socratic method is named for Socrates, the ancient Greek philosopher, and focuses on the use of discussion and inquiry, with participants asking and answering questions to enhance their critical thinking and ideas.
The first event will be held at the library in Trenton on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. and will run for approximately an hour and a half.
Admission is free and people are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks.
