Shoplifters sneak around in Belleville

BELLEVILLE – Shoplifters kept Belleville Police on their toes in three separate incidents Wednesday.
First, at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, police arrested a 48-year-old at a north-end grocery store. She was charged with “engaging in prohibited activity on premises” under the Trespass to Property Act. She was released at the scene.
Then, early on in the afternoon, police charged a 45-year-old Odessa woman with stealing merchandise from a local department store. She was charged with theft under $5,000 and is expected to appear in court Feb. 25.
Finally, later on the afternoon, police returned to the same north-end department store and arrested a 34-year-old woman after she was detained by store security. The woman was arrested for stealing and released at the scene.
