Thirty three-year-old man charged with dangerous driving

BELLEVILLE – A 33-year-old man doing doughnuts on North Park Street and was arrested and charged a short time later.
Police say a the man and his companion were driving recklessly down North Park Street just after midnight. Eventually they ran into a parked car. Police caught up with them in a parking lot on North Front and Tracey Streets.
Police say the driver tried to evade the police, and then fled on foot until being caught by the officers. He now faces a number of charges including: impaired driving, refusing to take a breath test, and dangerous driving.
Police say his companion, a 27-year-old woman, threw items at the police while the man was being arrested. She, too, was arrested, and charged with public intoxication. After being held in the cells until she was sober, she was let go. The man has a bail hearing on Monday.
