Brockville man arrested over indecent acts
BELLEVILLE – A Brockville man has been arrested in connection with two indecent acts that happened in Belleville and Napanee last February.
The Napanee OPP and the Belleville Police began a joint investigation last year following two complaints about incidents alleged to have occurred on Feb. 16 in Napanee and on Feb. 21 in Belleville.
The OPP say that at about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2015, a man in a vehicle parked on Dundas Street in downtown Napanee asked a woman walking toward East Street for directions. When the woman approached the car, police say, the man performed an indecent act.
Five days later, a woman was walking on Front Street in Belleville just north of the entrance to the city parking lot by the Quinte Living Centre. She was asked for directions by a man sitting inside a car parked on the street. Police say the man then committed an indecent act and the woman walked away.
With the assistance of Gananoque Police, the Napanee OPP and the Belleville Police obtained an arrest warrant for a suspect and arrested him last Friday without incident.
A 31-year-old Brockville man was charged with two counts of committing an indecent act. He faces a third charge over a similar incident in Gananoque this year.
He is being held in Napanee for a bail hearing.
