Local students to experience poverty in the Dominican Republic
By Nick Ogden
BELLEVILLE – Local students will get the opportunity to see poverty first-hand when they travel to the Dominican Republic.
This Friday, St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School in Belleville and St. Paul Catholic Secondary School in Trenton will be sending 10 students each to the Dominican Republic with the hopes of educating students about one of the poorest countries in the world.
The students will be living with local families to witness how they work, live and participate in cultural activities. They will stay with the families for a week, experiencing poverty and dealing with all the struggles associated with poor living conditions.
More to come.
