Man dead in house fire in Picton
BELLEVILLE – Prince Edward County OPP have confirmed a man died in a house fire on Main Street in Picton early Saturday morning.
25-year-old Zachary Dubois died in the fire. Three other family members managed to escape. Juanita Dubois, 51, Nick Dubois, 24 and Emily Walker, 16, were treated for smoke inhalation.
Police say an OPP officer came across the fully engulfed house at 8:55 a.m on Saturday.
The fire was put out just before 2 p.m and investigators remained on scene until Sunday afternoon.
Abby Dunnett, a family friend, created a Go Fund Me page to help support the family members.
As of today there is now $7,000 in donations for the family.
“We are raising money as a community to help this family get back on their feet. This community is one of the most passionate there is. Please help out in any way you can, it will be greatly appreciated,” it reads.
A post-mortem on the body is being done Monday.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
