Easter weekend was hopping in Belleville
BELLEVILLE – It was all about the Easter egg hunts, chocolate eggs and spending time with family this past weekend.
Many children were out celebrating with their families as Belleville had many activities for locals to go to this past Easter weekend.
Festivities began at 9 a.m. with the Lions Club hosting an event at the Batawa Ski hill. The day started off with a pancake breakfast, followed by an outdoor petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals and cotton candy.
Then at 10a.m. people headed over to The Promise Land Family Fun Farm and enjoy a live performance by local musician Andy Forgie. There was also a petting zoo, face painting, an Easter egg hunt, a balloon artist and a visit with the Easter bunny.
Many of the children who went to the events were eager to share their favourite parts about Easter.
Ten year old Ethan said he really enjoys the chocolate.
Aislyn, age nine, said her favourite part is the big egg hunt.
Jaidyn, who is also nine, pointed out the importance of spending time with family on the holidays.
“My favourite part about Easter is spending time with my family because I actually never see my family”.
While many children were excited about the chocolate eggs and the Easter bunny, two young teens talked about the importance of religion on this holiday.
Sister and brother Audreanna Chatterson and Gaeren Chatterson were at the Promise Land event.
” I love that about Easter. It’s a time (that) the earth is resurrecting, it’s coming alive again and it’s a chance for us to celebrate how Christ is coming alive again too,” said Audreanna.
“Easter is a time of new beginnings and it shows the epitome of our faith as Christians, and so the death and resurrection of Christ for us is a very big thing to celebrate,” said Gaeren.
Kassandra Doswell says it was good to see so many people out marking the weekend. She said it is important to have fun with family and friends.
“I just love that everyone can get together and have a good time”.
