June 19 declared Walk for Values Day in Quinte West
TRENTON – Quinte West city council has declared June 19 Walk for Values Day.
The Walk for Values event is a walkathon that doesn’t involve raising money; instead, it focuses on people pledging to promote good human values such as truth, non-violence, peace and love. It was started in Malvern, a small community in the east end of Toronto, in 2003 by the parents and children of the Sathya Sai School of Canada, a private elementary school founded by Indian spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba.
Since then, Walk for Values Day has spread from Toronto to other Canadian cities such as Edmonton, Ottawa and Winnipeg. It has also been embraced in the United States, New Zealand, India, South Africa and Australia. Quinte West is one of 30 Canadian cities that have declared support for the Walk of Values Day this year.
