One dead after accident on 401 westbound near Port Hope

PORT HOPE – One person is dead following a vehicle rollover on Highway 401 westbound at Newtonville Road, just past Port Hope. It happened around 8 a.m.

OPP have confirmed three people were in the vehicle which plunged into a ravine. A woman was pronounced dead and two passengers were taken to hospital. One male passenger was airlifted to hospital and is in serious condition. The highway was closed in both directions at Wesleyville Road, but police have now reopened all lanes to traffic.
