Belleville police on the hunt for break-and-enter suspect
By Jennifer Bowman
Belleville police are looking for a man who attempted to break into three different houses within half an hour and was chased out of them all.
Between 4:00 and 4:30 Sunday morning, a man attempted three break and enters in the Sinclair and Holloway Street area.
In the first house, police say he walked through the front door, then fled when a woman confronted him upstairs. In the second house, a woman woke up to someone trying to kick in her screen window. She chased him out as he was trying to get in.
Minutes later in a nearby house, a man heard his patio door opening. He came up from his basement to find the suspect standing in his living room. The homeowner chased the man from his house.
All three witnesses say the man was wearing dark clothing. Two also identified him as having a slim build, wearing a black hoodie, and glasses.
Police are canvassing the area in an attempt to identify the man, and find any witnesses. They are asking anyone with information to call CRIMESTOPPERS.
Police are also reminding people to secure their windows and doors before retiring for the evening.
