BELLEVILLE – A Scarborough man was charged with stunt driving Wednesday as he was on his way to pick up his impounded car.
Napanee OPP report that they stopped a 2016 BMW on the westbound Highway 401 for travelling 167 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The officer determined that the driver, who was on his way to pick up his car after it had been impounded in Napanee, was the same man who was stopped on Feb. 4 by the OPP for travelling 204 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on the 401.
The 19-year-old Scarborough man was jailed, with a bail hearing set for Thursday. His vehicle was impounded for the second time in 12 days, and he was given a seven-day driver’s license suspension.
A conviction of stunt driving carries a possible $10,000 fine and up to six months in prison.
