BELLEVILLE – A woman was taken to Kingston General Hospital Wednesday with serious injuries after a large tree blown over by high winds landed on the car she was driving.
The accident occurred at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bridge Street East and William Street, according to the Belleville police.
When the tree fell, it knocked a high-voltage power line, causing 873 homes in the area to lose power, according to Veridian Connections.
Emergency crews from Veridian worked for several hours to restore power. The last homes didn’t get their power back until 3 a.m. Thursday, a Veridian spokesman told QNet News.
