Federal offender wanted on multiple charges
BELLEVILLE – Police are looking for a federal offender who has been unlawfully at large for almost a year.
The OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad is seeking the public’s help to locate Gurfathe Kooner, 31, who was serving a three-year federal sentence for multiple firearms and ammunition-related charges.
Kooner is also wanted by Windsor Police on charges including fraud over $5,000, breach of recognizance, uttering death threats and failure to attend court.
Additionally, he is wanted by Essex County OPP for unauthorized possession of a firearm, breach of firearms regulations, possession of a firearm with its serial number removed and possession of a firearm when he had been prohibited from doing so.
The ROPE squad describes Kooner as “a non-white, Middle Eastern” man with brown eyes, a shaved head and a dark goatee. He is six feet three inches tall and weighs 241 pounds, and has several tattoos: a tiger on his right forearm, tribal symbols on both forearms, barbed wire on right wrist, and a tattoo saying Punjabi on the right side of his neck.
He is known to frequent the Windsor and Greater Toronto areas.
