Radio stations report from the green for a good cause

Local radio stations were broadcasting live from the Bay of Quinte Golf and Country Club Wednesday and it was all for a good cause.
It was the second annual “On Air For Health Care Radiothon”.
Radio stations from the Quinte region packed into the clubhouse for the all day event. The goal of the day was to raise money for medical equipment for the community.
The club supported the fundraiser by donating all green fees of the day to the Quinte Health Corporation.
Marc Ray, general manager of the club said it’s important to give back to the community and take part in something good.
“It allows us to partner with such a great cause and contribute to our community.” Ray said.
Brian Smith, chair of Quinte Health Care board of directors said the event provides opportunity for the community, businesses and individuals to support much needed equipment for all four QHC sites. Those sites include Belleville, Picton, Trenton and Bancroft.
“Changes in technology take place almost daily in health care today and those new technologies allow us to be more efficient and effective in providing services.” Smith said.
Neville Burroughs of Belleville has golfed at the course since 1965. He was out with his foursome of friends to partake in their regular Wednesday morning game.
Burroughs was in full support of the fundraiser.
“The government always likes to lead us to believe that they pay for everything for health and they don’t,” he said.
Burroughs said he would be helping the cause with a donation when he finished his round.
